elk river apiaries
The Elk River valley is blanketed in the summer months by a colourful and fragrant mix of sub-alpine wildflowers. Our honey bees collect the nectar from these flowers and produce a delicate honey that is unique in colour and taste to our mountain home. As there is no commercial agricultural activity in this region, the honey is naturally free from pesticides and other agricultural chemicals.
Deborah grew up in Fernie, and her partner Doug is from Elkford. They wanted to utilize both communities in their beekeeping business and the logical tie was the Elk River, so that is how it was named. With the help of numerous friends and family members, and lovers of bees, they have bee yards (or “apiaries”) throughout the Elk Valley, from the South Country to Elkford.
pure elk valley!
